Born to be a music star

Aleksandar Sofronijević started playing music at the age of six, dreaming that one day he will become a star and will have a magnificent career on the Balkan music stage.

FROM the city of kraljevo

Aleksandar was born on November 19, 1983 in Kraljevo, where he grew up, living in the city with his parents and younger sister Aleksandra. He started playing the accordion from an early age and learned the first bars and techniques on his own. In elementary school, he continued to play the accordion, and on school holidays he often played to his classmates, whenever the accordion was in his hands. After high school, Aleksandar was enrolled at the Music Academy in Kragujevac, where he enriched his knowledge and took the title of professional accordionist.

At the age of four, during one visit at his relatives, Aleksandar saw an accordion. This instrument was very interesting to him and he did not want to go home without it. His parents explained to him he could not take it with him, but Aleksandar cried and begged his family. That’s how he got his first accordion.

Aleksandar won the junior competition of young accordionists of Yugoslavia in Sokobanja in 2000, when he was sixteen years old. The fact that his mother and father set aside their complete salary for the accordion, as well as half of his grandmother’s, testifies how expensive the accordion of average quality was at that time. Two years later, at the age of eighteen, he played the same accordion and won the contest as the youngest in the senior competition.

Aleksandar formed his first band “Prestige” with his friends and they performed in Kraljevo and its surroundings. Aca was playing the keyboard at that time, but he never gave up the accordion. He also wore an accordion to performances and was recognizable by that. Aleksandar tried to entertain people, and on one occasion he broke one of his accordions. At the “Art” club in Mihajlovac, during the song “Polomicu case od kristala”, Aca got so carried away that in the end he broke his accordion. His picture from that performance is in this bar.

With his friends from the faculty, he formed an orchestra that played on Kraljevo television. They brought young singers who promoted themselves there. Aleksandar had a great desire to promote traditional music with his orchestra in this show, but unfortunately the show has been shut down.
